Marianne Matos is a licensed professional counselor, (LPC) in SC, LPCS Candidate, a National Certified Counselor, (NCC), and Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning, (ESMHL) through PATH International, specializing in women's issues, underserved populations, crisis & trauma.
My approach
I use a person centered approach, meeting the client wherever they are at. In working with children and adolescents, it is my mission to help them through this most critical time in their lives to set the stage for successful adulthood.
My focus
I work with children, teens, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, mood regulation, low self-esteem, trauma, grief, or simply seeking to improve their ability to handle life's challenges. Experience in working with children, and teens for 20 years revealed a great need for help and support for this population.
My communication style
Counseling services are available via a secure telehealth video platform so you never have to leave the comfort of your home or office. Equine-Assisted services are available in person only and subject to health and safety regulations.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to a career in therapy has always been related to a lifelong fascination with psychology. Parallels to this were experiences in life which sparked further interest and curiosity in how to improve the quality of life by developing the mind.
My goals for you
Goal setting is a collaborative process between the client and therapist, based on individual needs and wants.
My first session with you
Our first session always includes a review of the informed consent and therapy agreement, other important documents, and guidelines. We will also discuss history and background information to gain insight into the client’s situation. By the end of this session we may also discuss and establish goals, and answer any questions that a client may have.
