My name is Kellie Walker. I am a licensed therapist in Pennsylvania, who is passionate about providing counseling services to individuals seeking support and guidance through life's challenges. I am committed to empowering my clients to navigate their emotional well-being with empathy and compassion.
My approach
While I am familiar with a variety of therapeutic modalities. I specialize in Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed care, but I believe that the most important factor when it comes to healing, is the therapeutic alliance. I am dedicated to meeting clients where they are and collaborating with them on their goals. Every client is different and the approach I take, and technique I use, will be tailored to fit the circumstances the client presents with.
My focus
I am comfortable working with a variety of mental health issues. I have experience working with those with mood/personality disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, schizophrenia, anger, and impulsivity. I prefer to work with clients who are over the age of 18, and find that I work best with those who are at a point in their lives where they are truly committed to changing their lives.
My communication style
My style is direct and logical, yet empathetic. I help clients to take accountability for their actions, and learn from their past to create a more positive future. I am not afraid to call attention to ways that the client might need to stretch themselves, and address instances where there is room for growth. I find that my personality works well for people who find that they need a cheerleader who is willing to push them when they need a motivation boost.
My journey to mental healthcare
I spent most of my career and banking and finance. After years of not being fulfilled in the corporate world, I felt it was time to focus on helping people as I was meant to do. I pushed through my fears and concerns, and was able to work doing something I absolutely love. I am motivated to continue this work because it is in my heart to do so! I have seen the power of good therapy, and wanted to be able to give that to others.
My goals for you
I see goal setting as a joint effort. The client can describe what they feel is missing, and I will help them identify what their vision of a better life might be like. I do not believe in telling a client what would work best for them, as they know themselves more than anyone else.
My first session with you
A client can expect a warm introduction and enjoyable conversation where rapport is built, and goals are discussed. I enjoy laughter and often infuse my sense of humor during a first meeting, and beyond.
