My name is Krista Stanick, and I'm a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania. My counseling style is pretty laid-back. I want to help you work on your personal struggles and stressors while offering you a safe place to explore your thoughts and feelings.
My approach
I use Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavior therapies during sessions while maintaining a Motivational Interviewing approach. This means we can talk about your personal struggles, and I can teach you some effective coping skills to manage your emotions, thoughts, and everyday experiences. I look forward to our first session so we can make a plan to work through your struggles and stressors together!
My focus
I have worked with many adults experiencing psychological issues for nearly 15 years. Reasons those individuals sought treatment included anxiety, depression, mood dysregulation disorders, anger management, communication/relationship issues, and a desire to change maladaptive behaviors such as substance use.
My communication style
I have been described as supportive, caring, and compassionate, with a good sense of humor. I'm here to help you sort through the difficult things and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
Anyone can be faced with a challenging event, relationship, or symptom that causes them to seek professional help. We all need individuals like myself who can provide a safe and nonjudgmental space to learn and grow. I love being able to help others regain control of their lives by teaching them more effective coping methods.
My goals for you
I firmly believe that our therapeutic hour should be spent discussing YOU! Therefore, I think it's essential to work to determine clients' goals and priorities in sessions. At the beginning of treatment, we will collaborate to determine your therapeutic goals for each session and review your progress toward achieving those goals at every session.
My first session with you
During the first session, I would like to get to know you better. I may ask various questions to understand how you view yourself, others, and your environment. Then, based on your individualized treatment plan, I will develop my approach to meet your therapeutic goals in future sessions.
