Hi there. I'm Dominic Welcome! I am a licensed clinical social worker in Pennsylvania with over 24 years of experience as a mental health therapist. I enjoy helping people get better at dealing with depression, anxiety, anger, trauma/abuse, relationship difficulties, and substance abuse. I really look forward to meeting with you.
My approach
My approach to providing therapy involves applying Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFBT) interventions to help deal with mental health problems. I also specialize in Motivational Interviewing (MI).
My focus
I mainly conduct mental health therapy with clients 18 years of age or older in sessions involving individuals, couples, and families. My focus is on helping my clients become more confident, productive, and successful in life. I especially enjoy witnessing people getting along better with each other and managing their own daily stressors which motivates me in wanting to help.
My communication style
I take helping my clients very seriously and make sincere strong efforts to be supportive by actively listening to what they have to say about how they see themselves in their life. I also strive to be upfront, transparent, and honest with my clients in giving them practical feedback and/or advice on ways of realistically enhancing hope and effective action so that they feel empowered, capable, and content.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have witnessed family members, friends, and acquaintances, along with myself go through many difficulties while growing up. I believe that one of the greatest achievements in life is to become involved in helping people improve and enjoy their lives especially if they can then in turn help others.
My goals for you
I make efforts to collaborate with my clients toward developing clearly defined goals that focus on reducing their symptoms, increasing their daily performance, and more effectively managing their daily stressors.
My first session with you
I want to encourage my clients to make efforts to be on time for the first session although sincere extenuating circumstances are understandable.
