Hi there, I'm Elizabeth!

Hello! My name is Elizabeth Polovina and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. My approach to therapy is centered around creating a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I believe in the power of collaboration, and I aim to work together with you to identify your goals and challenges.

My approach

My practice focuses on a holistic understanding of each individual, recognizing that everyone has unique experiences and perspectives. I draw from various therapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, IFS, EMDR, mindfulness, and humanistic approaches to tailor our sessions to your specific needs.

My focus

I typically work with individuals, couples, or families facing a range of challenges, such as relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress-related issues, and life transitions. However, I have specialized training and experience in treating trauma.

My communication style

As a therapist, my communication style is warm, empathetic, and open which creates a safe space for you to express yourself freely. Working with me involves a collaborative approach where I actively listen to your concerns, ask thoughtful questions, and provide feedback that encourages self-reflection and growth, all while respecting your unique perspective and pace.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist began with a deep passion for understanding human behavior and helping others navigate their challenges, particularly those involving past traumas and wounds. I had a past career in higher education which serves me well in my role as a therapist, as both roles as a teacher and therapist help to facilitate growth and learning in others. Additionally, both roles allow me to create supportive environments, foster resilience, and encourage self-discovery. While I have loved my years teaching in higher education, I love the ability to work one-on-one with clients as a therapist.

My goals for you

I approach goal setting collaboratively, ensuring that your aspirations and needs are at the forefront of the process. Together, we will identify specific, achievable goals that resonate with you, and I will support you in breaking them down into manageable steps, allowing for flexibility and adjustments as we progress through our work together.

My first session with you

Clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they can share their thoughts and feelings openly. We will spend time discussing your background, current challenges, and what brings you to therapy, allowing us to build a foundation for our work together. Additionally, I will explain the therapeutic process, discuss confidentiality, and collaboratively set initial goals to ensure that our sessions are tailored to your needs.
