Hello! My name is Debbie Weikert. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am passionate about empowering individuals to overcome life's challenges, big and small with compassion and supportive guidance.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is strengths-based and solution-focused. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and person-centered approaches to help clients recognize their personal power and control in their daily lives as they learn to navigate their unique life paths.
My focus
I have experience working with adolescents and families, with a background in Functional Family Therapy, and currently working as a mental health professional in the school setting with high school students. Many of my clients come to me with issues related to grief, anxiety, depression, and stress management.
My communication style
My first priority when meeting a new client is to create a sense of comfort and trust. I want to make sure my clients feel heard and that their feelings are valid. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the building block to making lasting changes.
My journey to mental healthcare
My empathy and compassion for others led me to my career as a professional counselor. I enjoy hearing people's stories and helping them to feel seen and heard. The relationship with the client continues to be the driving force that allows me to continue this work as I am amazed by their resiliency and growth.

I believe in working collaboratively with my clients to identify and develop their treatment goals to help ensure effective outcomes.
My first session with you
During our first session, I will welcome the client to the therapeutic process by providing a description of what they can expect in our therapy sessions, including informed consent. I will get to know the client and what they are hoping to get out of our time together.
