Hello, I'm Nashonne Watson. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in the state of Pennsylvania. In my work, I use an eclectic approach combining my 13 years of counseling experience and evidence-based practice to create a safe space for you to allow yourself to be vulnerable and grow.
My approach
Over the years I have completed certifications in trauma counseling, spirituality-based counseling, and perinatal treatment. In addition, I am trained in DBT for adults and adolescents, CBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and am presently training in Brainspotting.
My focus
While I treat Clients from an array of backgrounds, I am well-versed in using a trauma-focused perspective. Instead of questioning what is wrong with you, I ask, what happened to you? This is an effective way to approach treatment for symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, aging, stress, transitions, serious mental illnesses, and most of all complex trauma.
My communication style
In my work experience, I have been told that I am quite inquisitive and that I create an understanding, non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe to be themselves.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was called to become a therapist through my personal life experiences of trauma. I have sat on both sides of the therapy desk and still do as I believe that counseling is a journey. The examples set by members of my support system encouraged me throughout my training.
My goals for you
It is my goal to support you in your counseling journey. This includes setting goals that work for you and are measurable. Tools that I use are evidence-based and will aid you in measuring your progress over time.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will begin to build a rapport. You are welcome to ask me questions about my experience and background as I will ask questions about what brings you to counseling, your background, and your family of origin.
