Hello! My name is Tami Lybeck, LPC. I am licensed in Oregon with over 4 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, motivation, self esteem, and confidence, depression, & coping with life changes. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
My approach
Our early relationships shape our view of self, and understanding of how we are to be in relationships with others. Counseling provides an opportunity to explore these narratives, discover hidden strengths, and find healing for our wounds. I utilize counseling theories including but not limited to: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy
My focus
I work with clients who have experienced trauma, depression, ADHD, anxiety or are having difficulty coping with life stressors. I also work with caregivers and individuals living with terminal illness.
My communication style
I am a person-centered therapist who combines warmth, empathy, curiosity and a sprinkling of humor to build and create a space where your story can be told. In our sessions we will work towards building hope, embracing strengths. I will encourage challenging yourself to try new skills, and together we will celebrate wins both small and large!
My journey to mental healthcare
My story begins with grief and a search for meaning in my life. Through my own therapy and life experiences, I have learned that some things are not meant to be “fixed.” I also learned to accept the dialectic of human existence. Grief, with all of her lessons strengthened my resolve to become a counselor, she has strengthened my ability to hold space for client’s pain, given me confidence to offer hope to clients, and taught me to continue seeking joy during times of darkness.
My goals for you
As a person-centered therapist, you get to set the goals! We will work together to fine-tune your goals and build a plain to achieve them.
My first session with you
During our first session you will have the opportunity to ask questions, share your concerns, and spend some time setting goals for our work together. Clients typically wait until a trusting therapeutic relationship has been formed before delving in to trauma or sensitive topics. This process can take 3 sessions or more. The pace of therapy is up to you, the client!
