My name is Stéphane Cohen, LPC. Building a supportive relationship is key to my approach to therapy. Once we establish a strong alliance, I want my clients to feel accepted and feel safe to talk about anything on their minds or that they are going through or have gone through. I want them to know that I am here to support them on their journeys of self-discovery.
My approach
I use a person-centered strength based approach combined with solution focused therapy. I encourage clients to take good care of themselves (physically, emotionally, spiritually) and to focus on putting good things in their lives (such as: hobbies, friendships, a career they enjoy, fun, adventures, sports, nature).
My focus
I work with Clients that have codependency issues. Relationship difficulties. Family conflicts. Clients that struggle to take care of themselves in relationships and tend to lose themselves in intimate relationships. Clients that are affected by a family member's or a spouse's addiction. Clients going through separations.
My communication style
I provide a safe tone/environment where clients feel safe and supported. Clients will feel like I listen intently and care about their wellbeing.
My journey to mental healthcare
First of all, I thrive on helping people and want the best for their lives. I have always liked meeting people and getting to know them. Everyone is unique and it's so interesting to hear people's stories. I enjoy very much seeing my clients live healthier and happier lives.
My goals for you
During the first few sessions I am working on finding out what a client wants to accomplish through therapy. What are their goals. What are their hopes.
My first session with you
A client can expect that the first session will be a time to get to know each other. I will be asking them questions to find out more about them. I will let them know my experience as a therapist and how I work. And I will ask them what has brought them to therapy.
