My name is Angel Oliver and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I believe in understanding the whole person and hope that each individual will be able to see themselves for who they are and not by what society or their diagnosis tells them.
My approach
My approach to counseling combines several therapeutic models including somatic therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, solution focused therapy, mindfulness, feminist therapy, and motivational interviewing.
My focus
I work with adults (18+) only and can work with clients for individual therapy and couples counseling. Specialties and Expertise: Trauma and PTSD, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Stress and Life Transitions, Grief and Loss, Relationship Issues, and Chronic Illness.
My communication style
I strive to create a safe space for you to unpack and process traumatic experiences. Together we will work at a pace that feels most comfortable for you.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have worked in various positions within the community mental health field for over eight years. I became a therapist to ensure that my community members, especially people of color, veterans, women, and individuals needing a cheerleader and advocate in their corner, can receive the care that they deserve.
My goals for you
I’m dedicated to a collaborative process that relieves suffering by building a therapeutic relationship focused on shared goals. Together we will create goals that are realistic, achievable, and attainable that highlight areas of growth.
My first session with you
During our initial appointment, we will complete a mental health assessment to discuss your symptoms and concerns. You will also have time to ask any questions that you may have so that you can feel comfortable with the process.
