Hi, my name is Merita Tyrell, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Oklahoma. I work from a systemic and collaborative approach and incorporate cognitive therapeutic approaches in assisting and supporting clients to be the authors of their own lives.
My approach
My approach to therapy is based on the needs of the clients. I pull from Systems Theory, Narrative Family Therapy, Systems Theory, and cognitive therapeutic approaches in the therapy process. I also believe in providing a client-centered approach to the sessions,
My focus
I typically work with individuals, couples, and families. I am also a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist with the Grief Recovery Method. I have over 10 years of experience and work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar, grief, parenting issues, anger, adjustment, family/relationship challenges, self-esteem, and trauma.
My communication style
My communication style is nonjudgmental, calm, and relaxing. I aim to make everyone feel comfortable opening up about the challenges and difficulties in their lives.

I approach goal setting by collaborating and building trust with my clients on their goals and expectations of therapy.
My first session with you
During the first session, I try to get to know and understand my clients on a more deeper and therapeutic level. I allow them to discuss the challenges that brought them to therapy as well as the expectations of their sessions.
