My journey to mental healthcare

I was awarded a full scholarship to attend Texas A&M University-Central Texas. At the school, I earned the most outstanding graduate in Marriage and Family Therapy. After graduating I was hired as a part-time professor at the school and became actively engaged in counseling soldiers and their families. I expanded my work with clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures in various settings around the world such as military bases, combat zones, hospitals, schools, embassies, consulates, to nonprofit homeless ministries. I have helped individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, and groups deal with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, and relationships. Anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, and relationships are my specialties.

My goals for you

I tend to exercise empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence as I assist the client in working through their concerns. I find that a balance between realism and help the you set realistic goals that engage and inspire you to see a more optimistic outlook. As attainable goals are reached, you will develop a sense of resilience and confidence that can help in all areas of life.

My first session with you

I do have a great deal of education: three undergraduate degrees, 4 master's degrees, and a doctorate; however, none of that education tells me your story. Only you can tell me what is going on with you. You are the expert on what is going on inside you. During the first session, you can share your story and we can begin to work together to choose a counseling modality that is right for you. As I learn about you, I will provide you with the results of a personality assessment and discuss different treatment options and how they can be tailored to help you.
