Hi there, I'm Ashli!

Hello! My name is Dr. Ashli Hill, and I am a LISW-S, TRCCII in Ohio, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adolescents, adults, and couples and specialize in depression, stress management, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship management, trauma-informed care, and life coaching using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychoanalytic Therapy, Trauma Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help my clients make progress and start feeling better.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality, allows us to work together to chart a path forward. Most often, when working with trauma survivors, I use trauma-focused therapy. I utilize Psychoanalytic Therapy to help patients understand how their unconscious thoughts and feelings affect their behavior, relationships, and thinking.

My focus

My style and approach are a good fit for various populations, including teens and young adults dealing with the challenges of mental health issues, life transitions, and social pressures. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, and stress. I help my patients navigate these transition periods and build skills to manage their symptoms effectively, feel better about themselves, and develop a more positive outlook.

My communication style

My communication style is calm and personable while engaging honestly. I want my patients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. I also want patients to feel like they are getting something out of our sessions and are progressing. I tend to assign homework to ensure that patients do the work outside of our sessions, which helps therapy be more effective.

My journey to mental healthcare

I became a therapist because I have always wanted to help and champion people. I believe that a component of advocacy is involved with therapy, and I enjoy advocating for your best self. Mental Health and Public Health have always been a passion of mine, thus garnering an urge to become a therapist and work within the policy arena as well. As a peer counselor in school, volunteering in my community, or being a trusted and loyal friend, I have always naturally been drawn to helping people through difficult times. I enjoy seeing individuals become the best versions of themselves.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting with clients is about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building trust between us and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Over time, we’ll work together to set goals, prioritize them, and track your progress.

My first session with you

What you can expect from our first session together is that we spend most of our time talking about how you've been feeling recently and asking questions to better understand why you may feel that way. The first session is about building an initial connection and helping me understand where we should go. Everyone is different, and I like to listen before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward. This is about you and your goals; I want you to WIN!
