My name is Melech Mann, LCSW EMDR. I am licensed in Ohio, New York, and the State of Israel. I am a certified EMDR practitioner as well and am trained in solution-focused and Narrative Therapy.
My approach
I use a holistic and multidimensional approach, including EMDR, cognitive, somatic, and emotion-based, using a trauma-informed approach. I have 13 years of experience and approach each person individually with warmth, compassion, and a sense of humor.
My focus
I work best with anyone who is motivated and committed to improving the quality of their lives, relationships, and the lives of those around them.
My communication style
I have a very warm, compassionate, and empathic approach, yet practical, evidence-based, and down-to-earth approach as well. We formulate goals, though realizing that no one is a robot, and we work in real-time as well. Everyone needs and deserves someone to listen to them with all their attention and consideration, and this passion I take into my meeting with you.
My journey to mental healthcare
As a young counselor working with disadvantaged children, I saw firsthand what trauma can do. I really wanted to help them. Starting my journey with the typical idealism of an aspiring therapist, I picked up a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work, garnered two social work licenses on two continents, and worked for multiple public and private agencies in two countries. I wasn't fulfilled. After almost 10 years of working in the field, I was in a real dilemma. I had not come across any therapy modality that actually healed trauma, chronic anxiety, or powerful stress! All I learned were ways to cope with it. By then, I already had a large family, many responsibilities, and no time to go to school and learn another trade. I was considering dropping the whole field of mental health and pursuing something else which my heart wasn't into. I was anxious and stressed‚ and here I am, supposed to be the therapist. Well, I can certainly say I learned a thing or two about what frustrated and hard-working people are experiencing when they've given it their all and are not where they want to be! As if on cue, a friend of mine introduced me to EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I was immediately skyrocketed to a whole new dimension of therapy disciplines that actually, well‚ WORK!!!
My goals for you
My approach is to focus on short-term and long-term gains with an eye for measurable and accountable improvement in the areas we will be working in.
My first session with you
Listening, compassion, practical steps, the beginning of goal formation, relief from anxiety and stress, and a touch of humor.
