Not currently accepting patients

Hi there, I'm Jill!

My name is Jill Werfelman. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I studied at Adelphi University. I have many years of experience working in healthcare where I conducted both individual and group therapy. My approach to therapy is person-centered. My practice is free from judgment and one of open-mindedness.

My approach

I am able to tailor the approaches I use to each individual need, I often use strengths-based, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), as well as others depending on the need in front of me.

My focus

I am well versed in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, those with/ affected by chronic illness, developmental disability, and those who are Neurodivergent. I have worked with all gender identities and people from all walks of life.

My communication style

The tone depends on the client and the style that best suits them, but always one of safety, respect, and freedom from judgment.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have always loved to help people. I have a sibling with a developmental disability and watching those around her help her and our family was the most motivating factor for me in pursuing my role in this career. I also have two children who are Neurodivergent and I know how challenging the parental role can be when your child(ren) struggle. This was also what led me to pursue the therapy route of social work and private practice.struggles

My goals for you

When it comes to goal setting t I like to work collaboratively with my client to see what achievable goals we can set and then tackle. It all depends on the need.

My first session with you

I will ask basic intake/assessment questions to get to know you and what you're looking to accomplish in therapy. We will have a dialogue about what brought you to therapy and learn more about you.
