My name is Ashley Villacis, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in NY. I have been working in this field for about 11 years, gaining experience by the day. Most of my experience comes from using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist my clients in the treatment of depression, anxiety, mood instability, adjustment problems, academic issues, family conflict, or relationship issues.
My approach
During treatment, the most used modalities in my practice are cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, couple/relationship therapy, and solution-focused therapy.
My focus
I have experience working with clients with depression, anxiety, mood instability, adjustment problems, academic issues, family conflict, or relationship issues.
My communication style
I prefer to create a safe place for the clients to express themselves and review confidentiality along with explaining my limitations.
My journey to mental healthcare
My experience with my therapists growing up and my psychology classes helped me to realize how much I enjoy this career.
My goals for you
I work with the client in exploring what they hope to get out of treatment and work on goal setting by using Socratic questioning. I encourage clients to be realistic with their goals to make sure it’s specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and have a specific timeline the client wants to reach this goal.
My first session with you
Clients should expect an introduction to myself and my work, along with discussion on what is expected of them during treatment. I would discuss with my clients my practice limitations and confidentiality to be transparent which builds trust for the client to feel comfortable participating in treatment.
