My focus
Ayanna embraces working with individuals and families of diverse racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds who may be experiencing a variation of stress and are new or returning to therapy. She specializes in honoring and lifting cultural values, beliefs, and personal strengths.
My communication style
My focus is to help you heal, become aware of your emotional strengths and resources, and identify solutions that can work for your life. We achieve this by creating a safe, neutral space where you are seen and heard as you develop new skills and strategies to make progress towards goals. Together, we can create practical solutions and more peace in your life.
My goals for you
Short-term goals are effective when beginning therapy. Meaningful work can happen in a short period of time. Consider what you would like to learn, how you would like to grow, and what changes would you like to see in your life as a result of your investment in yourself.
My first session with you
It takes a while to get to know each other and also build trust, not only in your therapist but also in yourself! We will talk about your reasons for starting therapy, exploring the present, and also traveling to the past to better understand how you arrived at this moment. Perhaps, you will be asked important questions you've never been asked and never had to consider the answers to. Expect to learn more about yourself and your strengths as you build more and more self-awareness.
