Hello, and thanks for stopping by! My name is Catherine Rowe, and I've been licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in the state of New York since 2009. I'm a Generalist Practice Practitioner who is fluent in various modalities.
My approach
I tailor the sessions to meet the needs of each client, but one might expect a mixed bag of approaches from CBT, Psychodynamic Theory, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. For those interested, I have resources that I can recommend to supplement our sessions.
My focus
While I am open to working with individuals from all walks of life, my current load is an eclectic mix of motivated individuals who need some support and guidance navigating Anxiety, Depression, Divorce, Miscarriage, Substance Dependence, Esteem issues, Chronic Illness/ Pain and relationship conflicts. I see Teachers, Lawyers, Advertising Execs, Project Managers, Start Up Enthusiasts, Scientists, Actors, Parents, Dreamers, Dancers, and other Therapists at the moment!
My communication style
I offer unconditional positive regard to all of my Clients. I have an open and down-to-earth approach and provide a safe and supportive space for Clients.
My journey to mental healthcare
The seeds of my interest in the helping professions were planted as a child. Having gone to a boarding school for disadvantaged youth, I had the support of an entire community of positive role models who greatly contributed to my social and emotional development. Since then, I knew I wanted to find my niche in the service of helping others. On this journey, I have worked within multiple settings including Foster care, Housing and Homelessness, LGBTQIA, Community Mental Health, Recovery, Health and Wellness, and now Private Practice.
My goals for you
Goals are determined by the Client in the first session. Collaboratively, we work towards meeting your goals and will review and reassess progress and growth areas every three to six months.
My first session with you
I do a thorough Intake session after the consultation. This includes a biopsychosocial assessment review of any baseline assessments; we set the therapy schedule that works for both of us and iron out any questions or early concerns.
