I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State. I have over 25 years' of experience in the mental health field working with both adults and children with various developmental and/or psychiatric disorders. This experience includes positions within day treatment settings, school settings, residential programs, clinics, hospitals, and my own private practice.
My approach
Through my clinical practice, I provide counseling, psychotherapy, clinical assessment, evaluation, treatment planning, case management, prevention, discharge, and aftercare services to individuals, families, groups, and organizations. My main focus consists of providing behavior modification and cognitive behavior therapy. Even though these are my primary techniques that I practice I will work with you flexibly and comprehensively to best meet your needs.
My focus
I typically work with clients who are looking to navigate major life transitions, manage stress/ anxiety, and improve their overall well-being. Many of my clients are professionals or students balancing demanding careers with personal life challenges, often seeking guidance in managing anxiety, anger, gambling addiction, and burnout. I am most comfortable treating individuals dealing with anxiety/ anger disorders, work-related stress, and those struggling with finding a healthy work-life balance. I also have experience supporting clients through challenges like self-esteem issues, decision-making, and personal growth.
My communication style
In my sessions, I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe and supported. The environment is calm and welcoming, encouraging open dialogue and trust. I believe in a collaborative approach, empowering clients to explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace. My goal is to provide a space that fosters self-reflection, where clients can feel heard, respected, and comfortable enough to be vulnerable as we work together toward their personal goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist started with a deep desire to help others navigate their challenges and find fulfillment in their lives. Early in my career, I found myself drawn to roles where I could offer support and guidance, and I quickly realized how impactful it could be to help people work through their personal struggles. Over time, I developed a particular interest in working with clients dealing with anxiety, stress, and anger. Gambling addiction and personal growth. My own experiences, both professionally and personally, have shaped my empathetic and client-centered approach, and I’m continually inspired by the resilience and progress of those I work with.
My goals for you
When it comes to goal setting in therapy, I take a collaborative and flexible approach. I work closely with clients to help them identify what they want to achieve, whether it's reducing anxiety, improving relationships, or gaining more self-confidence. Together, we break down these goals into manageable, concrete steps, ensuring they are both realistic and meaningful to the client. I encourage clients to take an active role in the process, revisiting and adjusting goals as necessary. My focus is on fostering progress while being sensitive to each client's pace and unique circumstances.
My first session with you
During the first session, my priority is to create a comfortable and supportive environment where clients feel at ease. We’ll spend some time getting to know each other, and I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, current concerns, and what brought you to therapy. I’ll explain how I work, and what you can expect from our sessions, and address any questions or concerns you might have. We’ll also begin to explore what your goals are for therapy, but there’s no pressure to have everything figured out right away. The first session is about building a foundation of trust and setting the stage for our work together.
