I am Kirbie Nelson, LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). Healing is a process, and I am here to provide an oasis of calm, giving you space to be present with your feelings and listen to your inner voice.
My approach
I use different therapy approaches, from psychodynamic to cognitive and behavioral approaches. With insights and practical skills, you will be able to process obstacles holding you back, allowing you to find your own meaning and fulfillment.
My focus
I work with adults and couples struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, and connection. Many clients are experiencing difficult life transitions. I enjoy helping clients understand their intense, sometimes uncomfortable emotions; supporting their process as they begin utilizing the power of their emotions to enhance their lives.
My communication style
I see us as partners working to understand your motivations, fears, and deepest hopes so that you can feel a greater sense of freedom and empowerment. We all have in us the seeds of our fulfillment; the work of psychotherapy is about uncovering the obstacles to its expression.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been fascinated with psychology, our minds, emotions, and souls. I went back to school after a career in the business world for my degree as a clinical social worker. I find it an honor to cultivate and witness a client's work toward self-actualization.
My goals for you
Clients usually know what they want. I just help them express it, then we collaborate on a plan to make it a reality.
My first session with you
Our first session is an opportunity to share what you want to accomplish in therapy. I will ask questions to understand you while you can freely share about yourself and ask your own questions about me and the therapeutic process.
