My name is Angela Mang and I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York State. I take a person-centered approach to therapy and believe everyone is equipped with the tools already to solve their own problems, therapy can help to bring those to the surface. My areas of focus tend to be anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, and relationship issues.
My approach
The most common theoretical approaches I use in my work are CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, and strength-based therapy.
My focus
I typically work with clients in the age range of 18-85. The conditions that I am most comfortable treating are anxiety, depression, trauma disorders, relationship issues, life transitions, occupational stress, family issues, grief and loss, career counseling, emotional disturbance, self-esteem, and women's issues.
My communication style
I like to create a safe, calm, and relaxed environment for my clients to feel the most comfortable. Since I see my clients via telehealth clients are able to be in an environment they chose to feel the most comfortable. My hope is for trust to be built during sessions for clients to feel they can be their most authentic selves during sessions.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always enjoyed helping others and being an ear to listen for close friends and family. I enjoy feeling like the person people can go to and trust with whatever is going on with them recently. Becoming a therapist was something I knew I wanted to do for a long time and now I have a career in one of my passions.
My goals for you
As a therapist, I use treatment planning to set attainable and realistic goals with clients. I also like to have ways to track progress to keep myself and the client on the same page throughout treatment. Clients are able to set their own goals that they feel are best fit to reach their full potential.
My first session with you
Clients should expect to have an open and comfortable conversation about what has been going on in their lives recently during the first session. The first session is meant for us to get to know each other and collect some basic information. It is also expected for clients to feel nervous during the first session, just know this is a step in helping yourself work through your recent life struggles.
