My name is Matthew Leardi and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New Jersey and working with clients in NY statewide via telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults and specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, and transitions in life using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
My approach
While my approach varies from client to client, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness work to engage and support you and provide a path forward in your mental health journey.
My focus
I have found in my career that my approach is tailored to work with adolescents, young adults, and adults. I pride my work on being able to address and support depression, anxiety, life stressors, and life transitions. My goal is to work with you to create and build skills to achieve a better sense of self.
My communication style
My communication style is one of calm, personable, and patient. I want you to feel comfortable in a non-judgmental atmosphere to discuss the things that matter to you.
My journey to mental healthcare
Growing up with a sibling with special needs opened my eyes to the positives of this work. The number of professionals that went in and out of my sibling's life left her with an increased ability to succeed in their life. That support made my sibling the fantastic person she is and I wanted to be one of those people. As I graduated college and my master's program I was guided into a direction of social work and have never turned back.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is to work with you to define and outline a plan of how to achieve the goals you have. This starts with building trust and establishing a proper understanding of what it means to be in therapy.
My first session with you
Our first session will consist of focusing on what you have been feeling recently and me asking questions to get a better sense of why you might be feeling this way. The first session is the groundwork for building a healthy rapport and building trust to foster a positive therapeutic experience.
