Lauren Widmark, LMHC My approach varies based on what the client needs, and I use a variety of methods throughout treatment. I specialize in addiction, PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, and life transitions.
My approach
I practice client-centered, emotionally focused modalities in treatment. Motivational interviewing, CBT, narrative therapy and trauma-focused therapy are all approaches I have used during my time as a clinician. I have found that each client requires a unique form of treatment.
My focus
I have worked in the addiction field for the majority of my career. This has allowed me to work with clients with a vast majority of struggles, mental health diagnoses, and backgrounds. I have most commonly treated addiction disorders, trauma-related disorders, and mood disorders in my career.
My communication style
While the majority of therapy is serious and requires difficult work, I like to bring light and humor to the session when possible. I want the client to feel comfortable in the session and know that they can speak up and be in charge of what they want from the sessions.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always wanted to work in the mental health field and, more specifically, in the addiction field. I believe that addiction is a symptom of something deeper that is going on.
My goals for you
I like to have the client be the director in terms of goal setting. Sometimes it can be difficult to know what you want or need from therapy, and I'm happy to step in to help.
My first session with you
I like to get as much as background as possible and make sure that I am hearing exactly what you expect and need from our sessions.
