My name is Eileen Sunshine, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor with a specialization in gambling and substance use concerns. I also specialize in working with clients with anxiety, stress, depression and helping someone make life-changing decisions through the use of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Wellness Self-Management so my clients' can start feeling better.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. My work is client-centered and trauma-informed. I take a strength-based approach and value and respect each client's experiences and help them to define and reach their goals.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults, parents, or young adults, who may be struggling with the challenges of life transitions, relationships, family, work, or on the cusp of having to make a living-changing decision. Sometimes this can take the form of anxiety, depression, stress, and gambling or substance misuse. I work to help my clients navigate and to build skills to allow them to feel better and have a positive outlook on life.
My communication style
I am open and accepting to all. My communication and tone are welcoming. Clients know they are valued and respected.
My journey to mental healthcare
I believe that everyone needs someone in their corner, someone that shows up for them and supports them in difficult and stressful times. As a therapist, I get to be that person for my clients. My experience and training allow me to help my clients in their journey.
My goals for you
Goal setting is based on what the client would like to accomplish. Maybe the goal is to feel better, have fewer panic attacks, or have a better relationship with their significant other or family member. Perhaps there is an employment or educational goal. Maybe it's to stop a behavior that is negatively affecting them. It's also OK not to know, if you like we can figure that out together.
My first session with you
During our first session, we would discuss presenting concerns, talk about your history, where you are now, and what you might like to be or change in your life.
