My name is Anna Mandia and I hold an LCSW license in New York and Florida. The areas I have focused on in therapeutic work include behavior modification with children and teens, support for those who have been sexually abused and I am passionate about helping people raise their self-esteem.
My approach
In my work, I lean towards utilizing techniques relating to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavior Modification and I am certified in TF-CBT.
My focus
Typically I work with children and teens who have a trauma history such as having been abused and are in foster care. I have done family therapy work as it relates to behavior modification and reunification of children with their parents. I am comfortable treating people who have a history of physical or sexual abuse, who have depression, low self-esteem, or who need help coping with a specific situation such as an unexpected pregnancy.
My communication style
I like to work with clients in a collaborative way by asking questions and receiving answers. I have found it beneficial to work through hypothetical scenarios as well. Typically I form concrete plans for change with clients and follow up on those plans on a weekly basis in order to help determine progress.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always wanted to help improve people's lives for the better. Having gone through some real-life events that made me seek therapeutic support, I feel therapy is beneficial. I hope to give that same support to others.
My goals for you
I ask questions to gauge a client's interest in goal setting. I explain the benefits of this and reasons why this can be helpful in therapy.
My first session with you
In the first session, clients should expect question-asking. This helps me discover the reason the client is coming to therapy and can help me get to know the client. In turn, this helps me as the provider give the best help to the client.
