For 30 years, my efforts were spent helping children and families in the educational environment. I have experience dealing with children diagnosed with emotional and educational disabilities. I have worked with children and adolescents with ADHD, anxiety, depression, conduct disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder, among others. Currently, my work is focused on psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults. I have a sensitivity and experience with cultural issues, diversity, women's empowerment, and the effects of aging. I have a Master's Degree in School Psychology and a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology. My desire is to help others find joy in their lives, and appreciate their uniqueness, in addition to reaching other goals in a safe, nonjudgmental, and trusting environment.
My approach
I utilize an eclectic approach including the integration of mind and body wellness techniques. In most instances, I focus on an evidence-based approach such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
My focus
I am interested in working with all age groups. I am sensitive to cultural differences and those struggling with anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues.
My communication style
My style is soft-spoken with a tendency to listen and allow the patient to take the lead. I try to be as empathetic and understanding of my clients' struggles.
My journey to mental healthcare
One of my sons once stated, "Life is hard." It broke my heart to see how a young child viewed life in such a manner. It is true, however, life can be difficult. If I can help people that are struggling to feel better and navigate life a little easier, I would feel satisfied.
My goals for you
It is important that the clients collaborate in establishing the goals. Occasionally, I will check with the client to assess their progress and offer my view of their progress.
My first session with you
The first session is meant to establish rapport and get to know each other. Some of the time will be to collect background information and the client's primary concerns.
