My name is Elaine McCullough. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) based in Nevada. I primarily work with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults. I specialize in self-esteem issues, anxiety, stress, and depression, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to help my clients make progress and start feeling better.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality, and allow us to work together to chart a path forward.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for teens and adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and social pressures. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, and stress. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and build skills that allow them to feel better about themselves and better about life itself.
My communication style
My communication style is calm and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable in opening up and being themselves without any concerns about being judged. I will ask open-ended questions to help myself and the client gain insight into what the client has or is experiencing.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I have always wanted to help others, especially individuals who are struggling or feel stuck. I enjoy seeing individuals become the best versions of themselves
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together and defining how you would like the presenting concerns to look as therapy progresses. This often starts by building trust between us and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Over time, we'll work together to set goals and track your progress.
My first session with you
The first session is more like a "Getting to know you" and an information-gathering session. I will ask questions regarding what led you to seek out therapy. Other areas include questions about your family and social history, significant relationships, education, and work. Toward the conclusion of the first session, we will discuss whether you would like to continue with individual therapy sessions where we start to address your presenting concerns.
