Hi there, I'm Nina!

I am Nina K. Snipes, LCSW. I work with individual adolescents, adults, and couples, specializing in stress, anxiety, and depression. I also enjoy helping teens and young adults with issues revolving around school and/or future planning. My goal is to help people help themselves through providing strategies and offering feedback during sessions.

My approach

I use a client centered approach which means that the focus in on the client's needs and interests. I also incorporate a strengths-based approach - balancing one's strengths and potential solutions with the problems and issues that are brought to therapy. I am certified and trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.

My focus

Drawing from over 20 years of dedicated clinical practice, I offer compassionate and professional support for individuals, children, adolescents, and families navigating life's complexities. From fostering healthy relationships to managing anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, trauma, gender identity, divorce, and grief/ loss.

My communication style

I strive to create a therapeutic space where warmth, encouragement, understanding, and laughter promote positive change. Because everyone comes to therapy with unique experiences, I use a combination of methods/techniques to best suit the needs of each person that I work with to help maximize the benefits of therapy. As a therapist, I have often been described as authentic, warm and direct.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey as a social worker began in 1991 as a child protection worker with the Department of Children and Families in CT. My passion in working with at risk youth and families has provided me with the opportunity to work in an inpatient hospital setting for over 10 years as Director of Clinical Services.

My goals for you

I integrate a variety of theories and develop an individualized treatment plan that will help you best meet your needs emotionally, physically, spiritually, and relationally. With a comfortable therapeutic relationship that is built on trust, I hope to help you realize your personal goals.

My first session with you

First, I will begin with a thorough comprehensive assessment and identify your treatment goals for therapy. Using warmth, empathy and positive regard, we will develop a personal care plan unique to your individual needs.
