My name is Christine LaPorte and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Nevada. I work with clients of all ages and specialize in anxiety, stress, life changes and trauma. I use Person Centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused therapy to help clients have the capacity for growth and progress towards their goals .
My approach
My therapuetic approach varies to best meet the needs of the client. I use an integrated approach which may include Person Centered, CBT, Solution Focused, and EMDR to help clients gain more control over their lives, and help them find the courage and self- esteem to be the master of their destiny.
My focus
I enjoy working with clients of all ages. I work well with clients that are ready for change and willing to be open and vulnerable in therapy and with themselves. I tend to work well with adolescents, teens, and young adults that are dealing with life changes and stressors with family or socially. I will work along side of my clients as they navigate these life changes and develop a more positive outlook on their life.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, supportive, lighthearted and non-judgmental. I will use reflective listening to help you feel comfortable being able to talk about anything and everything. My clients will feel like they are in a safe space with someone who is there to offer unwaivering support and cheer them along every step of the way.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have spent most of my life in helping professions in many different capacities. I have always had a tendency to see the strengths in people and understand that struggles in life can affect our capacity to see the positive in others and ourselves. I chose to pursue a career as a licensed therapist to help be part of the solution and to help clients be able to see their own strengths and become the best possible version of themselves.
My goals for you
I will always meet my clients where they are at and support the goals they want to achieve in their lives. I will build a good rapport and level of trust with my client and help them feel comfortable being in therapy and work together to set achievable goals and regularly review their progress towards those goals.
My first session with you
The first session it is understandable to feel nervous or even guarded. I will make sure you take the time you need to feel comfortable sharing what has lead you to therapy and use supportive questioning to help build a connection where you will feel at ease and able to provide information which will help lay a groundwork for our time together.
