Hello! I have been a practicing therapist for over 40 years and provide individual, couples and family therapy. I have trained many new therapists and taught at university. I like to adapt my therapy to each person, set goals and take steps toward success.
My approach
I use supportive therapy, insight oriented therapy, brief solution focused therapy and provide psych education and coping skills to deal with such problems as anxiety or depression. I am easy to talk to and understand multicultural counseling especially clients who are Latino.
My focus
I have worked largely with Latino and Caucasian clients. I use an approach where my clients and myself are equal. All income levels and educational status from ged or no ged to postgraduate professionals. I have specialized in trauma from any kind of abuse as a child or adult, substance use, anxiety and depression to name a few
My communication style
I am very easy to talk to. Initially I will gather history of your life and the problem you are seeking help for. We will jump right into the problem and work together to identify solutions. We are a team. I do not tell any client what to do but make suggestions. Workplace issues can be a common problem
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always helped people but it was not until 1985 that I had moved to a town in New Mexico with a university. I went from department to department looking for a career path. I was told I could become a professional clinical counselor with the credits I had after graduating from UNM in Albuquerque. So, my journey began!

First visit is where I get to know about you and what has occurred in your life. We will identify a goal and jump right into making goals reachable
