Hello, My name is Cheryl Seavey, LICSW. I have been working in mental health for over 20 years. I believe anyone can benefit from therapy. I challenge clients to consider solutions while empowering them to recognize their own strengths. Through this process I have found people are able to make the changes needed to improve their quality of life and regain confidence and self-esteem.
My approach
I work with clients using DBT, CBT, Mindfulness, Relaxation, and Family Systems.
My focus
I have a specialty in working with geriatric clients and also work with adults with regard to depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, relationship issues, and adjustment.
My communication style
I believe that therapy is a parallel process. I work to partner with clients to truly understand and empathize with their experience to help them progress toward their goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
I found early in life I had a natural skill for problem solving. Working toward a career in mental health became an obvious choice as I moved through my Bachelor's Degree at UNH with a dual major in Psychology and Social Work. I then completed my MSW and began working with children and families. My career then transitioned to working on an inpatient unit, in nursing home settings, as well as with outpatient adult clients. I am passionate about seeing people grow in their personal goals and transition in a positive way through various life transitions and challenges.
My goals for you
I work with clients to fully assess their view of the therapeutic need and work to create targeted, reachable, goals in therapy.
My first session with you
During the first session I will complete a psychosocial assessment to best begin to learn about the client's social and family system.
