Hi there, I'm Marissa!

Hi there! I'm Marissa Batie-Collier, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor specializing in helping adolescents and young adults navigate anxiety, stress, and depression. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Bibliotherapy to empower my clients on their mental health journeys.

My approach

My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that each individual is unique. Rather than a one-size-fits-all solution, I employ a person-centered approach that empowers clients to take ownership of their healing journey.

My focus

My primary focus is on adolescents and young adults. I specialize in helping clients who are grappling with anxiety, stress, and depression. I have extensive experience in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Bibliotherapy to address these challenges and support individuals in building resilience and coping skills.

My communication style

My communication style is open, empathetic, and direct. I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves fully. My goal is to foster a collaborative partnership built on trust and mutual respect. Sessions with me are typically described as warm, supportive, and empowering. I strive to create a calm and understanding environment where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Working with me often involves a combination of active listening, guidance, and practical tools to help clients develop coping strategies and achieve their goals.

My journey to mental healthcare

As a person with lived experiences of trauma from adverse childhood experiences. I find fulfillment in guiding individuals through difficult times and witnessing their growth. My path to becoming a therapist involved obtaining a master's degree in Social Work from Florida State University, followed by supervised clinical experience and a licensing competency test. This rigorous training equips me with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective care. The driving force behind this work often stems from a deep sense of empathy and compassion. As a therapist, I am motivated by the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives, empowering them to overcome obstacles and build resilience.

My goals for you

I believe that goal setting is a collaborative process. I work closely with clients to identify their unique goals and create a roadmap to achieve them. We start by exploring their hopes and aspirations for therapy, and then break down these larger goals into smaller, achievable steps. It's important to me that goals are realistic, measurable, and aligned with the client's values. I emphasize the importance of setting both short-term and long-term goals to provide a sense of accomplishment and motivation. Regular check-ins allow us to evaluate progress and make necessary adjustments to the plan.

My first session with you

During our first session, we'll establish a foundation for our therapeutic relationship. I'll begin by creating a comfortable and safe space for you to share your thoughts and feelings. We'll discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and explore your current challenges. I'll provide an overview of my therapeutic approach and how I can support you. We'll also cover important details such as confidentiality, treatment goals, and session structure. Most importantly, our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and determine if we're a good fit for therapy.
