My name is Nancy Davis and I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Clinician. I am based in new Hampshire and work with clients statewide. I work with adults, specializing in substance use disorders, relapse prevention, anxiety and depression, relationships, and communication. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to help my clients make progress and start feeling like themselves again.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
My focus
I have found that I work best with adults who have been experiencing the consequences of their substance use and the challenges of life transitions, trauma, social pressures, and generational addictions. Most clients also experience anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, and relational issues. I try to help with building coping skills, improving communication, and increasing the value of self-worth.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, relaxed, and straightforward. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I am in recovery myself and understand the issues and pain that people go through. I believe that people can change if they are willing to do the work, which can sometimes be hard. Having someone in your corner who is willing to help you can make all the difference in the world. Recovery is a choice and I am willing to help those that are ready to change.
My goals for you
By gathering information about why they are in therapy and focusing on what would they like to accomplish. The goals are set by the client with help and suggestions from myself.
My first session with you
The first session will be getting information about the client, with what is called a bio-psycho-social. We will review medical, social, drug history (if applicable), mental health, and employment to get a full picture of what may need to be addressed in therapy. It is also a chance for the client and myself to get to know one another. I want to hear directly from you what is going on.
