My approach
I use cognitive behavioral therapeutic approach and client-centered approach to therapy mainly. However, I also use an eclectic approach to clients as I realize each client is unique and not one theoretical approach is effective to all clients
My focus
Substance abuse, addictions, relationships and emotional regulation, life transitions, anxiety and depression. I have worked with and welcome all ages. My experience with client age range has been from 8 years old to 80 years old.
My communication style
I am very approachable. I am open to listening to my clients goals and am a supportive tool for them. I guide and teach as I counsel clients. I make it clear to my clients that I may ask them to uncover an issue they may not want to explore, and that I will be beside them each step in their journey when they take a risk such as this. It is also important for my clients to know that they are in full control of what they choose to talk about in our sessions, and if they do not want to uncover that is okay, but I will revisit it and challenge them to process through their life conflict(s)
My journey to mental healthcare
Human behavior has always intrigued me. I have been very satisfied as a therapist witnessing clients growth
My goals for you
I ask the client what they would like to accomplish during counseling, and let them make their own goals with my support
My first session with you
I will introduce myself and share my career background giving them an opportunity to ask questions to me about my experience. I will also ask them to give me a background of their life, not going into details and ask why they sought out counseling and what they want to work toward in counseling
