My name is Catherine Sparks, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have spent the past 20 years working with individuals as they process difficult situations. I have walked with them as they voiced a desire for change and made steps to put goals in place to make that change happen.
My approach
I use a cognitive behavioral approach and work to make sure that you are the center of your own plan for creating goals and the path to meeting them!
My focus
I have spent the bulk of my career working with adults as they struggle with the stress that can come from daily life and unexpected life events. I am comfortable working with individuals who are dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, loneliness, grief, loss, etc.
My communication style
I am genuine and compassionate, and I love to laugh! With my easygoing nature, I hope to put you at ease and create an environment where you can feel comfortable engaging in open discussion, critical thinking, introspection, and change.
My journey to mental healthcare
I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Spring Arbor University and went on to attain my Master's of Social Work from Western Michigan University. I am currently licensed as an LCSW in both North Carolina and Michigan.
My goals for you
You are in control of your goals. I want to be there to provide direction and guidance, but in the end, you need to be moving toward something that is important to you. This work is hard, and the end goal has to be something that is worth the effort!
My first session with you
During your first session, you can expect open conversation. I want to get to know you and your concerns. I want to begin to discuss some goals so that, from the very beginning, you can see the start of a path forward.
