Do you struggle with stress, anxiety, depression? Are you low on the motivation necessary to make needed and lasting change? Do you have a vision for your future that you could use some assistance in attaining? Believe it or not, you are not alone. Many people struggle with the same issues. The good news is you don't have to go it alone. I am an LCSW therapist with 30 years in the field of Social Work and 17 years as a Behavioral Health/Mental Health Therapist. I have been providing virtual sessions since 2019 and I am ready when you are.
My approach
My approach is first-person centered, wherever and however you show up is our starting point. Though I use an eclectic and conversational approach together we will determine long-term and short-term goals for treatment to ensure our work together stays focused and you are able to achieve what you came in for. We will work on addressing thinking issues, coping skills, and strategies for success. My theoretical approach includes person-centered treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, including Trauma Informed and Motivational Interviewing as well as Mindfulness and Awareness.
My focus
I enjoy working with adults of all ages 18-118 years old. My specialties include anxiety, depression, caregiver stress, and grief.
My communication style
My past and present clients have let me know that they feel comfortable talking with me. My approach is conversational and I strive to provide a welcoming and calming environment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been the friend that friends go to for a listening ear. While navigating my junior year of an undergrad degree in Business Administration and struggling with the idea of spending my days 'crunching numbers' it was made clear to me that I was designed to be a Social Worker. It took 5 years to complete a 4 year degree but I wouldn't change that for anything. From there I found my way to grad school 10 years later and completed my MSW while working and raising children with my spouse who was also a full-time grad student and working. I worked a few years providing Therapy in school systems before making the decision to pursue my LCSW and love the work so much that I secretly do wish I had made the decision earlier.
My goals for you
I utilize simple worksheets that assist my clients in establishing Long-Term and Short-Term SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-limited) goals. This way we are able to identify our progress in measurable terms.
My first session with you
Our first session will be all about establishing rapport and a therapeutic relationship all while gathering enough information from you to inform our path forward.
