Hi! My name is Brittany Mohammed and I am looking forward to working with you as you navigate through this season of your life. I have over 9 years of experience providing therapy to individuals, families, and couples, including adolescents and adults.
My approach
My counseling approach is authentic, client-centered, and tailored to each individual's unique needs. I believe in meeting people where they are and that there is no one-size-fits-all manual for navigating life's challenges. I utilize interventions from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and other treatment modalities to best support my clients.
My focus
I work with individuals to address and remove barriers that hinder them from operating at their fullest capacity and reaching their full potential. My primary treatment focus includes depression, anxiety, ADHD, life adjustments, bipolar disorders, trauma, family conflict, and grief and loss. I am especially passionate about helping clients remove negative cognitive distortions and explore life's meaning and purpose.
My communication style
You can expect an authentic, supportive, and non-judgmental space in our sessions. I tailor my communication style to what works best for each client, aiming to create a collaborative and trusting therapeutic relationship.
My journey to mental healthcare
I earned my Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) from North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC, where I studied from August 2010 to May 2012. This experience solidified my passion for helping others navigate life's challenges and find greater well-being.
My goals for you
My goal is to empower you with the insights, coping skills, and resilience needed to overcome obstacles, build self-confidence, and cultivate a greater sense of hope and purpose in your life. I aim to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, validated, and equipped to make positive changes.
My first session with you
In our first session, we'll focus on getting to know each other, discussing what brings you to therapy, and identifying your goals. I'll gather some background information and answer any questions you may have about the therapy process. Together, we'll start developing a tailored treatment plan to support your unique needs and aspirations.
