My journey to mental healthcare

Carmella's journey to becoming a therapist has been characterized by dedication, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to empowering individuals to overcome adversity and achieve greater well-being. Her holistic approach to therapy, rooted in social justice values and a strengths-based perspective, reflects her belief in the resilience and inherent worth of every individual she serves. Motivated by a desire to make a difference in the lives of those struggling with mental health issues, Carmella decided to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Social Work at Methodist University and her Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) at the University of South Carolina, Columbia with both known for its clinical training program. Throughout her graduate studies, Carmella immersed herself in coursework focused on trauma, death and dying, mental health interventions, and diversity and cultural competence. During her MSW program and throughout her career, Carmella practiced at mental health clinics, hospitals, and community agencies, gaining hands-on experience working with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and relationship issues. Under the guidance of seasoned clinical supervisors, Sarah honed her therapeutic skills and developed a deep appreciation for the transformative power of therapy. Over the years, she has continued to expand her expertise through ongoing training, workshops, and professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in the field of mental health.
