Greetings! My name is Pamela. I prefer to be called Pam. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have several years of experience working with clients assisting in managing trauma, negative behaviors, and emotional challenges in the home, school, and community settings. I also have had experience working with individual adults, couples, and family groups dealing with stress and anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.
My approach
My primary approach to counseling is using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I enjoy helping clients understand how feelings influence thoughts and how thoughts influence behavior. I assist clients in setting short and long-term goals. I help clients to progress from where they are to where they want to be. I also utilize Solution-focused therapy and Motivational Interviewing in helping to set goals.
My focus
Through my experience with youth and adults, I have developed a passion for helping others to succeed. My work has aided many in making the most of their therapeutic experience and has helped them be better prepared for their future. I am fully committed and determined to support clients. I believe everyone, if given the proper guidance, can find a path to their personal success.
My communication style
In working with clients, I believe it is imperative to create an environment of non-judgmental sharing. It is important for me to give clients the freedom needed in order to share their challenges and concerns.
My journey to mental healthcare
I began my career in mental health after spending several years in Corporate America. I came to the realization that I enjoyed working with and assisting my community rather than contributing to a corporation's bottom line.
My goals for you
Goal setting is initiated and achieved by collaborating with the client to understand core values. I utilize the SMART goal-setting methodology.
My first session with you
In our initial session, the client can expect to be given allowance to express their presenting concern/challenge.
