Hi there, I'm Sherrae!

Sherrae Lachhu, MA, LMFT As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 24 years of experience in mental health, I specialize in intentional identity development, helping individuals and couples navigate personal growth, relationship dynamics, and life transitions. My approach to therapy is grounded in authenticity, empathy, and evidence-based practices, ensuring a safe space for profound transformation and sustainable change.

My approach

My therapeutic approach is integrative and rooted in intentional identity development, focusing on authenticity, openness, and the mind-body-spirit connection. I create a judgment-free space where both individuals and couples can explore their challenges, build on their strengths, and work toward harmony in life, love, and business. Using experiential techniques and existential and relational frameworks, I tailor my methods to each client’s unique needs, fostering authentic connections and resilience. Our therapeutic relationship is a collaborative partnership founded on trust and flexibility, navigating complexities together. The ultimate goal is to achieve personal growth, meaningful change, and sustainable harmony across all areas of life.

My focus

I primarily work with high-performing professionals, couples, and individuals who are navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, and identity development. My clients often seek harmony in their personal and professional lives, striving for authenticity and deeper connections. I am particularly comfortable addressing issues related to intentional identity development, neurodivergence in individuals and couples, and the unique challenges faced by BIPOC, interracial, and intercultural couples.

My communication style

My communication style is warm, open, clear, direct, and collaborative, creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard and understood. I bring authenticity, empathy, and a touch of humor to our sessions, fostering a space where clients can explore their challenges without judgment. Working with me feels like having a trusted partner who is genuinely invested in your growth, guiding you with both compassion and directness toward meaningful change.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist was shaped by feeling misunderstood throughout my childhood and early adulthood, as well as a deeply traumatizing first marriage that led to divorce early in my career. These experiences fueled my desire to help others navigate life’s complexities. After entering the field over 25 years ago, I suffered from burnout due to high-stress workloads, deepening my commitment to becoming the therapist I couldn’t find for myself. Later, being diagnosed with ADHD and realizing I was highly masked by ADHD and Autistic, further strengthened my understanding of being misunderstood. Today, I’m driven by the privilege of helping clients embrace their identities and achieve meaningful change.

My goals for you

I believe that effective goal setting begins with a deep understanding of who you are and what you truly value. Before setting goals, we work together to explore your authentic self and clarify your earnest values—not just your aspirational ones. This foundation allows us to set goals that are genuinely aligned with your identity and desires. From there, we break down your goals into actionable steps, ensuring they resonate with your true self and lead to meaningful and sustainable outcomes.

My first session with you

During our first session, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where we begin to delve into their current challenges and goals. We’ll start by discussing what brought them to therapy and any immediate concerns they have. I focus on establishing a strong foundation for our work, taking the time to understand their unique experiences, values, and aspirations. This initial session is about setting the stage for a meaningful partnership, where clients feel understood, valued, and empowered.
