Hi and welcome. My name is Pamela 'Pam' Millan, LMFT. My professional and personal experience has developed an expertise in individual, marriage & family therapy, trauma, grief, depression, and mood disorders as well as building effective relationships with others and with yourself. I also specialize in Christian Therapy for those who are looking for biblically centered therapy. I have extensive experience helping adults, couples, families, and teens. I am trained in EMDR and working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in Human Resources for many years which allows me to help with people who may be experiencing work-related issues.
My approach
I tailor therapy to each and every person's individual, using CBT, DBT, Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR, Trauma Focused Therapy, and many more techniques to aid in meeting my clients' needs.
My focus
I work with people of all cultures and backgrounds. People of all religions, and those who have no religion or spiritual beliefs. I work with mood disorders, anxiety, trauma patients, and relationship issues. I am non-judgmental and believe strongly that most issues can be resolved. If we can identify an issue, together, we can find a resolution that works for you.
My communication style
When working with clients, I want to provide a nurturing environment where they feel heard and supported. I provide simple and relevant options that will help them quickly find solutions to their individual issues and relationship problems.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been interested in how the mind works, the way we understand our surroundings, and how we process information. I felt led strongly by my own life and experiences to understand how we can make the best of our lives and our relationships. I am always so grateful and feel so blessed when someone trusts me with their personal information, no matter how great or how small. I have had several careers, but this one is the one I love being a part of each and every day. It doesn't feel like a job, it feels like an honor.
My goals for you
I assist clients to define their own goals for therapy and determine for themselves when they have met them. I want clients to feel they have the ability to be successful in all areas of their lives.
My first session with you
I am a straight but kind shooter. From the very first session, you will get a clear picture of what therapy will be like, if I am a good fit for you as a client, and I work hard to make you feel comfortable with the therapy process. I understand talking to a complete stranger is difficult, and I want to honor each client by understanding the level of exposure they are in. I have no expectations for the client to share more than they are comfortable. I do have expectations of myself to help you feel comfortable, cared about, and understood.
