Hi, my name is Dr. Karen Davis #S10075. I have been licensed for 11 years in NC. I am a person-centered therapist and my main areas of focus are developing a healthier self-esteem, decreasing symptoms of anxiety and depression, and working with my clients from a strengths-based approach.
My approach
I believe in a person-centered theoretical approach. From this foundation, I also blend in theories such as psychodynamic, CBT, and ACT based on the needs of my client.
My focus
I typically work with clients who may be struggling with a life transition, overall self-esteem, relationship and family issues, depression, anxiety, and career coaching.
My communication style
The environment of my sessions is very relaxed. I seek to build a trusting relationship with my clients where they feel comfortable to share and be who they authentically are without any fear of judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist because I genuinely love to see others succeed. I love to watch individuals learn more about themselves and use their new knowledge to become empowered and lead a more satisfying and full life.
My goals for you
I believe that setting goals in therapy is a joint effort between the client and myself. I believe that the client is their own expert in knowing what they need help with. I am there to assist them in putting what they need into words that formulate their goals for therapy.
My first session with you
During the first session, my clients can expect that I will take the time to get to know them and why they are seeking counseling. More questions are asked during this time, however, I also listen more to try and develop a clear picture of what is going on in their life. From here, we work together to develop goals for treatment.
