Hi! I look forward to working with you. I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor in the state of North Carolina. I love to work with individuals 18-64 and help them with life's ups and downs. I am a compassionate listener and will guide you at your pace. I am a Christian and see the world through the lens of the Bible. I am respectful of others' beliefs and thoughts. We all need help at different times in our lives and I applaud anyone that makes their mental health a priority. Reaching out takes courage but you will never regret asking for help. I have two cats, Chester and Henry, that provide love and support for me. I have older parents that need care and support a few times a week so I enjoy the flexibility of online therapy
My approach
My approach is semi-directive but a flexible approach. I listen to the client to see what their concerns and needs are so we can formulate a goal or plan for dealing with issues that are troubling them.
My focus
My client focus is working with adults that struggling depression, anxiety, stress or life transitions.
My communication style
My communication style is non judgmental and compassionate, open to getting to know what the client's needs are so we can build rapport and trust. As therapist I provide a comfortable welcoming environment that puts clients at ease.
My journey to mental healthcare
I finally realized at every job I worked at I was always asking coworkers how they were doing and I liked listening and trying to help encourage them. I have always cared about others even as early as middle school I would always tried to include classmates others left out or made fun of. I realized there were a lot of people out there that were not getting the support and encouragement they needed either from family of origin or friends. I am trying to put my God given gifts and talents to use to make this world a better place.
My goals for you
I think it can help to set a goal and most clients are ready have some idea of a goal they would like to work towards. Sometimes people just need to talk out what is on their mind and eventually a goal comes out of the conversation.
My first session with you
Clients should expect giving them some idea of what is covered in the first session and how to proceed. The first session I like to get to know my clients and about their life and usually what they would like to work on comes out of the first session. There is no pressure to share anything you do not want or not ready to share.
