My name is Eugenia V. Davis and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Supervisor (LCMHCS). I am eclectic with my approach to therapy because I treat everyone individually and as I see what works best for them.
My approach
I will use different therapeutic orientations based on the individual’s circumstances; however, I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, The Empty Chair, and Guided Imagery techniques.
My focus
I specialize in clientele with chronic mental illnesses including psychosis, personality disorders, addictions, and mood disorders. I have extensive experience working with various clientele populations, including children through geriatrics, foster care children, adult inmates, and juvenile delinquents.
My communication style
I am a very laid-back clinician who encourages clients to feel at ease and have no fear of biases and/or judgment. I insist that clients talk the way they would to a friend and not feel embarrassed, guilty, or intimidation.
My journey to mental healthcare
I experienced depression and anxiety while in law school and sought out help through therapy and psychiatry. I learned that I probably could have benefited from therapy as a child as well. I was truly interested in why a person with everything going for them in life could still feel so down and negative. I later pursued my degree in counseling so that I could better understand myself and help others.
My goals for you
I ask the client what they would like to work on and I then give them my impression of the information they've given to me and what I feel could also possibly benefit the client.
My first session with you
I would like to know a little more about the client and their current situation (married, children, living situation, etc.). I will tell you about the therapeutic process and give you the opportunity to ask questions.
