Not currently accepting patients

Hi there, I'm Melody!

Hi and thank you for stopping by. I'm Melody Flannery, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor, and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor in NC. I have over 20 years of experience and training in the areas including but not limited to anxiety, trauma, relationships, attachment, chronic pain, adjustment, addictions, grief, career, and crisis resolution.

My approach

My approach is non-shaming, non-blaming, tool teaching, and teamwork-oriented. I use different methods and models that match clients' needs, so that would be called "eclectic". I lean on problem-solving, emotional management tools, and grounding tools which help with anxiety and trauma. Motivational interviewing is about accepting a person "where they are". The attachment looks at the roots of issues so we can "break free and move on". Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is helpful to measure personal progress as a team. Positivity transfers your healthy behaviors to use in the future.

My focus

I work with clients who are troubled (deeply or mildly) by either short-term or long-term issues. These have included: anxiety, relationship, low self-esteem, guilt/shame, grief stemming from a loss, recent or past, work, illness, addictions, trauma, chronic pain, lack of organization, chronic procrastination, weight issues, self-care issues, depression, midlife, and aging issues.

My communication style

Comfortable is the word that I hear very frequently from many clients. I am told that my authenticity and nonpretentious manner are welcomed. Therapy doesn't have to be stuffy, strictly formal, or overly clinical. In fact, I believe that anxiety-evoking situations don't lend very well to learning as well as when we are feeling safe.

My journey to mental healthcare

I come from a long line of healers. Childhood memories are filled with seeing family elders being visited by many people who were searching for solace and needing a caring listener. With that said, it was a natural progression for me to practice in the service field.

My goals for you

Goal setting is generally a joyful experience for both of us because we have successfully explored your issues and are now beginning to form Short Term/Long Term Goals and learn how to use tools to continue to cope and resolve issues going forward in life. Your service plan is the tool that measures how we are progressing as a team.

My first session with you

Expect to be comfortable and know that I am an easygoing and accepting person. I like for you to feel safe and not interrogated. We will go over our mutual expectations. We will take a look at your priority issues and create goals that you can start practicing and measuring right away.
