Hello. I am Darlene Wilson. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. My therapeutic approach is individualized to meet the needs of clients. I have worked with children, adolescents and adults. This included individual and family therapy.
My approach
I use an assortment of therapy techniques based on the need of the client. The most common is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT can be used to treat a variety of issues.
My focus
As an LPC, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults. Most of the clients I have worked with are adolescents who are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem issues, or trauma. I feel Family Therapy could also be a benefit to help clients meet their goal. I have done grief activities at a local school and for the community.
My communication style
My communication style is friendly and non-judgmental. Clients will feel comfortable and know they are being heard.
My goals for you
The client and I will work together to identify the goal or goals they need to achieve. We will discuss if they are realistic and achievable. A timeline will be set to work towards the goals.
My first session with you
During the first session, you can expect to share and answer questions. This is the time to be honest and open. Some of the questions may be uncomfortable but are important to help to identify goals. It is also a time for you to ask questions and learn what you can expect from counseling. I understand that it is not easy for clients to trust someone they just met but I will be listening and giving you encouragement. We will both be meeting each other for the first time.
