Hi, I'm Michelle Evans, LPC. My approach to therapy is laid back, supportive, and encouraging, focusing on areas such as anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, and self-confidence. I aim to help you break free from beliefs that hold you back and provide educational tools to empower your journey.
My approach
My approach to therapy recognizes that you are the expert on your own life. Your unique life journey shapes patterns and behaviors that you might not always be aware of. Together, we will explore the behaviors and patterns you wish to change, using a combination of CBT, DBT, supportive therapy, and client-centered therapy to guide us through your journey.
My focus
Throughout my career, I have worked with children, teens, adults of all ages, and senior citizens. We are never too young or too old to learn and grow. I meet you where you are, adapting therapy to your preferred learning style. Are you a visual learner? Let's create understanding together. Prefer philosophical discussions? Let's dive deep.
My communication style
I am open-minded and eager to learn about your experiences. By understanding your journey, I can better support you. You'll find a safe, supportive, and judgment-free zone with me—and I'll even share my zany humor along the way!
My journey to mental healthcare
I remember being the kid who was curious about why people behaved differently. I always enjoyed talking with others, learning about their interests, beliefs, and anything they were willing to share. Over time, I realized that we often don't recognize our ability to make changes and that not everyone knows this. I believe your mind is your most powerful asset. Sometimes, we're given incorrect information, and our brain isn't aware of it at the time. Through therapy, you can discover what works for you and what doesn't.
My goals for you
Goal setting is unique to each individual. We'll explore whether you come to therapy with specific goals in mind or prefer to develop them as we progress. I will encourage you to create SMART goals and find objectives that align with your natural patterns, behaviors, and personality.
My first session with you
During our first session, we'll explore what brings you to therapy, the challenges your symptoms present, and what strategies have worked or not worked for you. If you're on the shy side, I'll ask questions to help you share information. Feeling nervous about talking to a stranger? I'll meet you where you are and support you throughout the process.
