I am LeAnna Fowlds, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Treating clients with dignity, respect and valuing the right to self-determination creates an environment of person-centered and self-directed treatment. My clients are the experts of their lives and best understand their needs.
My approach
Using a holistic approach to treatment promotes strength, healing, and creates a supportive environment. The trusting relationship created between a therapist and client is the most important part of treatment. I use empathic and active listening to allow you to tell your story, to feel understood and validated. Together we create a therapeutically safe place for each individual to blossom into the person they desire to become. Using a variety of evidenced-based therapeutic modalities (CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solutions Focused Brief Therapy, Family Therapy, Narrative therapy and Substance use Treatment) promotes healing in individuals, couples, and families.
My focus
My clients are a culturally and ethnically diverse population stemming from a wide variety of religions and socioeconomic backgrounds. If you are struggling with a history of trauma, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, domestic violence, relationship issues, or other mental or behavioral health concerns, please know that I am a person who cares and wants to see you live your best life. I will work with you to seek healing and relief from the pain you are experiencing.
My communication style
Sessions are performed via telehealth, which is an amazing opportunity for clients to "therapy from anywhere." Sessions work best when the client is located in a space which is confidential and free of distraction. Telehealth therapy needs to be private, but can be utilized from a variety of devices as long as a strong internet signal is available. Therapy can not take place while a client is driving in a vehicle or utilizing mass transit. However, many clients do utilized a parked vehicle as a quiet safe space. I meet the client where they are at promoting a calming and relaxing environment assisting clients with having a calm and enjoyable experience.
My journey to mental healthcare
Understanding a greater calling on my life I completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Tarleton State University and a Master of Social Work at University of Texas, Arlington. After 4000 hours of supervised practicum, I completed the LCSW license in MO. I have a passion for working with couples, relationships and family therapy, and substance use involving myself with this work for the past six years.
My goals for you
Using a person-centered, strengths based approach I coach the client in creating a SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound) goal. After creating the goal intentional self-motivated action steps develop two objectives that will be achieved toward accomplishment of the goal.
My first session with you
Most clients are surprised to learn the first session is not an actual therapeutic session. During the first session I conduct an intake session which is a sort of fact gathering mission. I ask questions varying in nature which guide the client to tell their story. This creates a picture of the life of the client from birth to today providing me with important details and insights regarding what the client has experienced.
