Angela Rowden, LCSW My approach to therapy is focus on what will help the client achieve their therapy goals in the most effective way. I think being honest and real with client is essential in development of a strong therapeutic relationship.
My approach
I use behavioral models like CBT, DBT and I working on being certified in Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I am also a trained EMDR therapist which is helpful for patients with complex trauma and other conditions.
My focus
I work with a wide variety of clients of all backgrounds. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, and trauma starting at age 12.
My communication style
I try an create an environment where clients can share their thoughts and feelings without judgement. I am direct in my communication style. I listen to both the struggles and strengths that clients have developed throughout their lives.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always wanted to work in the helping field. I started working in an adolescent substance use treatment center and had a desire to do more to assist these young people. I discovered becoming a LCSW would allow me to help others learn how to live a better life.
My goals for you
Goals need to strength based and positive so that is my approach. Goals need to be what the client wants not what I think should change.
My first session with you
The first session would be getting to know the client, learning about their reasons for coming to therapy and creating a plan for therapy.
