Michael Priddy Missouri License 2002008095 My approach to counseling is CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) I work with adults who struggle with most issues including depression, anxiety, self-confidence, and relational issues.
My approach
My approach to therapy is relational interventions to help people understand their worth and values as individuals and in relationships. I utilize CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
My focus
I work with adults who struggle with most issues including depression, anxiety, self-confidence, and relational issues.
My communication style
My tone is supportive and caring desiring to help people through difficult times. At the same time, a client has to set goals to meet and come up with approaches to meet those goals. As a counselor I try to build an accepting, trusting, and safe relationship, in which clients learn to openly discuss what worries and upsets them, define behavior, acquire essential social skills, and develop the courage and self-confidence to implement the desired new behaviors.
My journey to mental healthcare
I am a former pastor and pastored for 20 years. While enjoying being a pastor with all the responsibilities of a church I came to the resolve that I enjoyed building relationships with individuals much more than "preaching" or teaching. Resigned from my church and worked on becoming a therapist.
My goals for you
Goals are important because they move a person forward in life. "If you aim at nothing you will hit it every time." Zig Ziglar
My first session with you
The first session is very important for gathering intake information. It is also important to establish a therapeutic relationship. It is fact-gathering and relational building. Most clients feel very comfortable after the first session.
